SCH Boys Basketball Mid-Season Update

By: Andrew Wolf

The SCH Basketball Team had a successful weekend on December 9th and 10th as they achieved their first two wins of the season. SCH played against Cardinal O’Hara and GAMP and won both games by a combined margin of 50 points. On the 9th, against Cardinal O’Hara, the Devils won 68-46 and gained the first victory for new head coach Julian McFadden. Senior Captain Zuri Peyton led the Devils with 25 points. The next night, against GAMP, Senior Co-Captain Matt Rahill scored 19 points, which was the most on the team. Although he is a senior, this is Matt’s first year on the roster, and he adds scoring depth, which the team badly needed. Freshman Delonce Hines also had 10 assists in the game, proving himself an important asset to the team.

The Devils next played against Cristo Rey High School at home on Tuesday, December 13th. The game began at 6:30 PM and SCH brought home a 63-37 win led by Chris Alleyne, who finished with a triple-double. After competing with Cristo Rey High School, the Devils hosted the SCH Devils Classic Tournament on December 16th-18th. The team went 1-2 for the weekend with a win against New Foundations Charter and losses to Paul Robeson High School and Friends Central. Once again, Matt Rahill led the team in points for both games. On the 17th, he had 25 points, and on the 18th he scored 13.

Overall, the season is looking good for the Devils, and with new leadership, the team is expected to soar to new heights.
