The SCH Academy football team competed against Episcopal Academy on Saturday, October 14th. Both teams were coming off close losses in non-league games. Episcopal Academy came to Saturday’s game with a record of 3-2, with losses to Blair Academy and Salesianum, but wins against Conwell-Egan Catholic, Hill School, and Monsignor Boner. They are led by sophomore quarterback Marcus Daniel and junior running back Dee Wil Barlee. Todd Fairlie is the head coach for the Churchmen. In addition, the Churchmen have 15 seniors and had defeated the Blue Devils in three of the previous four years.
The SCH Blue Devils are led by junior quarterback Aaron Angelos, senior linebacker Jack Elliot, and senior free safety Nick Logue. The Blue Devils were 4-2 before Saturday, with a recent 25-24 OT loss to Northeast High School that came on the last play of the game. SCH did defeat the Hill School, George Washington High School, Blue Mountain High School, and Roman Catholic with a combined score of 115-38. SCH has not won an Inter-Ac game in their last eleven attempts and was looking for revenge for last year’s 31-0 loss to Episcopal Academy.
Episcopal Academy defeated SCH Academy 21-7 this past Saturday. The Churchmen’s running back, Dee Wil Barlee, ran all over the Blue Devils defense as he led the team with 25 carries for 189 yards and three touchdowns. SCH also suffered from lack of offensive line protection as Episcopal registered 8 sacks against the Devils QB, Aaron Angelos. The game was 7-7 in the fourth quarter until the Devils made some costly mistakes on both sides of the ball. For the Blue Devils, senior wide receiver Myles Hugee had the only touchdown of the day on a 37 yard pass from quarterback Aaron Angelos. The SCH football team will need to make large adjustments in Inter-Ac play if it wants to improve its record from last year.
